PHOTOGRAPHY SCHOOL FOR THE BEGINNER TO THE PROFESSIONAL

LET US HELP YOU BECOME THE BEST PHOTOGRAPHER YOU CAN BE

The Basics Lite gives you enough information to get you started

If you know you need a leg up, with your DSLR camera, but don’t think you are ready yet for our 6-weeks Photography 1 course for some reason, The Basics Lite option may be for you.

As always, we take a low-key and relaxed approach. Our classroom is a "mistakes welcome" environment. Because if you make a mistake, it means you tried something new, and trying new things is the only way to learn. No question is too basic. In three weeks, we'll get you well down the path to having better control of your DSLR camera.

Overview:

In The Basics Lite, you'll learn about two of your most essential camera's systems - shutter and aperture - and how they work together to help you capture the images you want. You'll also learn how to use your autofocus - which can be frustrating if you don't understand what it's up to -  to improve your images. Although you won't receive a Study Kit or your Certificate in Basic Photography, as our 6-week Photography 1 students do, you'll still benefit from our laid-back, hands-on approach and step-by-step walk-through of what your camera does, and how, and why you should care.

Class 1:

Introductions, camera systems, exposure modes.

We will be looking at what makes up your camera system and how you can use the exposure modes to your advantage. (You will have to put up with a few minutes we spend going over the contents of the Study Kit for our 6-week members.)

Class 2:

Using your autofocus like a pro. The shutter, how it controls light entering you camera and how you can use it to control motion in your photos.

Demo: How to use the shutter to show motion. Shooting in shutter priority mode.

Class 3:

The aperture, how it controls light entering your camera and how you can use it to control the depth of field. What the numbers on your lens mean.

Demo: How to use the aperture to control the depth of field. Shooting in aperture priority mode.

What you will need to bring to class:

Your digital camera (Point And Shoot or DSLR)
Charged battery for your camera
Storage Chip Card for your camera
The manual that came with your camera.
